Day 2

Heyas gang,

Once again here's a thought or something I took away from each session. Hope you enjoy. :)

Thinking Forward
Third Culture Leadership

Dave Gibbons

Leaders must adapt even if it's painful to reach out to the 3rd generation i.e. creative types, artists etc etc

Aid vs. Trade
Andrew Rugasira

Kindness is the best kind of aid; a key point is to: help people help themselves.

Leveraging Your Past
Wess Stafford

Pain can be a catalyst for a leader; pain leads to passion leads to move/doing something. (Last part was my own take away)

Eyewitness to Power
David Gergen (Interview with Bill Hybels)

Create a culture not just teach people about things; you (as a leader) have to get better and learn.

Switch
Chip Heath and Dan Heath (Interview with Craig Groeschel)

Change is filled with conflict; big problems have small solutions.

Bono, the Church… Three Years Later (videocast)
Bono

Revamp the way missions are shown in a typical church setting.

An Interview with Tony Blair (videocast)
Tony Blair (Interview with Jim Mellado)

Sidenote: I really enjoyed hearing from Tony Blair. Just was fun and one cool line he stated is that he felt like a normal guy when asked about when he first felt like a leader. I thought that was pretty cool.

Your irreducible core: you can't back away & must hold to it (stand your ground).
